Can a Cop tell if my ID is fake?

I am thinking of getting a fake ID from this person I know. I live in Florida and the ID is from another state across the country. I am 18 and the ID will say I am 21. If a cop in florida sees me, will he know its fake. I know this is all illegal I am just wondering. I know the License numbers can be called in but is that only in the state that issued the ID? It wont have holograms, but still not every state's ID does.

1) They can tell it's fake
2) They have a linked database to other states to see if it's real
3) Most bars (unless you go to somewhere near a touristy place) will not accept out of state licenses to begin with (or, may just question them even more)
4) Some bars even have the technology to scan your id to check if its real (I've been to a few & seen them)
5) With all the new identity theft lasw out there, you could actually get into a whole lot more trouble than you think, with possessing a "fake id"
6) There is a book that is published every year with all the updated licenses/id specifications of all the states (I worked at a bank & we had one) , &, the police all have these too, so, all they would need to do is compare it to how it should look (if they were too lazy to call in the #'s )

You're just asking to get caught. Yes a cop can tell if your stuff is fake and yes they can call in numbers nationwide. I am military and haven't lived in CA for 10 years. If and when I have ever had my drivers license number run, no matter what state it has been in, they have always been able to pull my information. You information on all of this stuff is minimal and you will get caught. The guys at the bar have pictures of all state licenses so they know what they are supposed to look like. AND believe it or not, you don't look 21 when you are only 18. That alone will get you dimes out in a minute no matter how old you think you look. Your looks and behavior to real adults will be your downfall. Don't waste your money.

First off, Why the fu#! would you ask that question on an online public forum. You never know who could be reading this and trace your IP adress. Second, all state IDs do have a hologram.

I wouldn't bother trying to give the cop a fake ID if I were you. You don't sound too smart and you willl probably get cought right then and there. Then your looking at a seriouis fine if not jail time. Might see you on COPS soon!!!

Hmmm. I suspect that a cop may be able to do so. Also, if the id is from out of state and you are 18 that will raise some eyebrows.

not worth the cash, first since 9/11 all states updated there picture id to included holograms first give away

then many bars now have machines which scan the bar code on the id to see if it is real or fake not worth it

Usually they can tell if one is fake or not.

There are little signs in the ID that carry over from state to state. And there are notices informing officers of the "fraud protectors" on each different state's ID's.

Don't do the crime if you don't want to do the time (and/or pay the fine).

I don't know about Florida, but in California, they can actually scan it to see if it's valid... Not everyone has that kind of technology, but I'm thinking a cop might.

If you're just using it to get into bars or buy beer, I wouldn't worry about it. I highly doubt a cop would just pop out from behind the counter and say, "Gotcha!"

The can run your license # at any time, from any state. It would be run through NCIC (National Crime information Computer)

It would be shown to be a non issued number, and then you would taking a nice quick trip to the county jail.

After 9/11, your little false ID is a felony.

Why in the world would you want to do something
illegal like that? You would just be setting yourself
up for arrest and jailtime (and it would probably just
be a matter of time before that happened). Then you
would have a jail record when applying for any decent
job in the future. My advice is to forget the whole idea.
Drink non-alcoholic. It"s cheaper, it"s tasty, and there
is no chance of putting yourself in jeopardy. I know a guy
that even went into bars with his military friends and
he could drink as many soft drinks as they did alcoholic.
Even his drunk friends looked up to him.

Depends on how well it's done. The good ones are very expensive. If you're a kid, I'd say you probably can't afford that kind of document. So, yes, he will probably be able to tell it's fake.
