I haven't noticed that - I've seen lots and lots of movies with black criminals, but if you are talking specifically about rape scenes, then I guess because it is pc

Well on most shows, there are about 80% white actors for all the roles. So take 10 roles and there's usually 1 black, 1 latino. Well if everyone on the show is white, and then there's this one black criminal, it just looks really racist. It gives the show a racist feel and thats not what the producers want. If all the actors were black, it wouldn't be like that but there's usually only one black actor per show/movie. When racism is not such a problem, one day, then black actors will be playing more criminals. It sucks but thats how it is today.

Regardless if what you say is fact, the fact is that stereotyping certain races with certain behaviour patterns through the media helps to continue racist perceptions. Non whites have long been labelled as inferior in all matters; with the exception maybe of hard labour and many have only recently been given the same rights on paper as whites.
The historical legacy of oppression have far reaching implications and will continue for generations to come, as so much rest in the details when it comes to self image, for which a healthy one is necessary for a healthy society. If white racism ceased completely, it would be sooner rather than later that race would cease to be an issue when casting actors for any role.

The news likes to make a big deal about criminal's race if they are not White.
As far as acting is concerned, there are few roles for Blacks in movies and TV except for ones with all-Black casts. Even so, you are still wrong because there are lots of movies where Blacks play as villian (major or minor). Training Day, for instance, stars a White protaganist (played by Ethan Hawke) and a Black antagonist (played by Denzel Washington).

This has been going on for 30 years or more. Whites being portrayed as stupid or criminals, and disturbingly, hapless victims. Why? , perhaps we should pose that question to NBC CBS ABC. It causes people to feel victimized without leaving their house. IT PROMOTES RACISM.
You are stating what you see and how it makes you feel. Your feelings are real, valued, and shared by many. you don't need to be a statistician.
If you have the time, write to them, or better yet find a way to start a petition on-line. Does anyone know of one?

Um, your statistics are way off. How the heck do you know if most prison rapists are black or white? And you don't specify which shows you are referring to. Exaggeration does not help your argument.
The vast majority of people in jail in America are white males; however, black males in jail represent a much higher percentage than black males in the general population. Jail rape is probably not as wide-spread as people believe, but the rapists most likely reflect the general prison population, and therefore a mix of white and black males.

White people portraying blacks as criminals would be too believable. The TV writers want people to know that their stories are fiction.
Actually your question isnt even accurate. I have seen hundreds of black criminals on TV. Skin color doesnt determine if you are capeable of rape, murder, ect.

they don't want to offend black people!
If you don't show them on a series then they get mad but if you try and show them on a show like Law and Order they freak out!
