Don't change formulas too often. It can take anywhere from a couple of days to 1 week for baby to get used to the change. Talk to his doctor about the type of formula to use for him. One thing you can do to help his tummy feel better is to put a clean, dry washcloth in the microwave for about 1 minute and place it on his tummy on top of his onsie. This helps soothe them. Also, rub his tummy and bend his legs and gently push them towards his body. This helps expell the gas and can help with constipation. Whatever you do....DO NOT put Karo syrup in his bottle. A lot of people will tell you to do this, but according to many doctors this is as dangerous as giving a baby honey.

Have you tried Nurtramigen or Alimentum. These formulas are broken down more than the others so that they are easier to digest and are easier on the baby's stomach. These are very popular formulas for babies who have digestive problems that are not resolved by the regular formulas. They can be a little pricey though. As far as the #2 problem, you might try a glycerine suppository some are made especially for babies.

I recommend the Nestle Goodstart with the DHA and ARA. Twins in my family (4 months old) are both on the soy version of that. One of them had problems with gas as well. We used infant gas relief drops and those seem to help. When in doubt with a child that young, take him to the doc to get checked out.

i have to agree, take him back to the doctor to make sure that he doesnt have digestive problems, and i know that he is too young to have watered down apple juice [use apple juice if he still has that problem when he is older] but you can also try a stronger version of the gas drops, but my suggestion is to def take him back to the docs, well, best of luck and i hope i could help! =]

It could be a digestive problem as some have suggested in which case, of course, you would need to see his dr, and they may refer you to a specialist.
Or it could be that he's constipated and needs more liquid in his diet.
Either way I would take him to the dr just to be sure. He's so little I wouldn't want to risk it.

try doing gas exercises on him.Lay him down on the floor on his back. then take his legs and push them up twards his chest. push them up and down several times and that should help work out the gas and it might help with #2 but if it doesnt then talk to his doc bout it.

Try breastfeeding! It makes babies healthy AND happy, and you'll lose weight. You can start, even if you haven't nursed for 5 weeks. Ask your doctor or lactation specialist. Best of luck!!
P.S. Breast milk is a better than giving your baby soda in a bottle. Soda may work, but, hello! its unnatural and packed full of chemicals! Definately ask your doctor first!!
