Aren't they ALL myths?

I recently had an epiphamy. I don't/can't believe in God anymore. I am an atheist now.

Don't I feel silly, having taken so long to come around to the truth.

Hello Chistoso 99.

For atheists all religious forms are myths. So in your case, it is normal that you consider them as such. That's exactly what my atheist friends think. I disagree with them, but it is so good to disagree with someone and still be friends because that is what respect is all about.

I am glad you presented your question so well. My respect to you.

Aye, myths they are, all. Glad you've found your "path". ;)

I am Pagan, but I do totally empathize with what you're saying. It's difficult to believe in "just one thing", when there is evidence of "many things" and they all contradict.

Myths are what we make of them. What we believe has power over us, therefore we had better be certain that belief is worth that kind of power. (Quoted from myself.) We need to believe what works for us, what is "right" for us, what keeps us whole and sane. Myths carry the grain of truth (history) of a people, but they also carry the heart of soul (culture) of a people. Truth is relative after all, and subjective to boot. No one else's truth will ever be mine... and mine will never make anyone else happy.

The main thing is, you've found your truth, and that's all that counts. :) No one else will look into the same mirror you do when you wake up in the morning. Good luck!

myths? Yes they could be considered myths. They are human constructs after all. We were not created in god's image, but he was created in ours. There is however, power in myth. The power of many people believing in the same thing can actually be felt. I have been in many rituals (I'm pagan) that have moved me more than I can even say. That it is solely created by us doesn't give it any less power. In fact, it gives it more. The power and energy comes from us. God idols just give that power focus.

I don't think religion is myth, especially the Jewish religion. We have stories and tales of things that DID happen, same with catholic and christian religion. Now I've never believed in god,I don't think it's possible for a mythical creature to determine if and when something is going to happen. I don't mean to offend anyone who does not share the same feelings as I do.

I know many many people believe in god,I just don't. I don't pray,or go too temple. I can't worship something I don't believe in,it just makes no sence to me to pretend to believe in something for the sake of others.

All myths...

Welcome to our side...
Welcome to the atheist's side...
Welcome to the... Dark Side....

Lol but seriously, yeah it's all myths...

I really don't see any proof of anything. I mean for all we know the bible could have been written by some fat drunk thousands of years ago.

And to the guy that said something about your soul... Have you ever seen a soul, heaven, or hell for that matter. What proof is there that I will be going to hell or to heaven?

I also never understood if Jesus loves us all and forgives all of us 1) why are we born with original sin? 2) why do I have to pray to him in order to go to heaven when he forgives me?

Just live your live how you want to live it. Not by pleasing someone else. You only get one shot at this.

All religions contain a portion of human ego and contentiousness. That does not make them Myths; it makes the truths hidden behind egoism and contentiousness.

Religion is not MYTH!! it cant be possible. Lets look at God first. How can the Universe create itself out of nothing; therefore there is only one explanation: and that is that there is a God. The WHOLE UNIVERS IS GOD! Just think about it it symbolizes the imensity of God, and afterall we are all part of him. God is in all of us, we just have to find him.

As for religion it is only a way for us to find God, to communicate with Him. All religions provide a way for us to communicate with Existence (God) , be it prayer, meditation etc...

Hope it helps:))
