The true name for sea monkeys is Artemia also know as brine shrimp used to feed baby fish fry. They don't live long but you can culture/hatch your own artemia. You can buy the artemia eggs at your local pet shop. Here's the equivant mix: ten teaspoon of aquarium salt, one teaspoon of artemia eggs, and one gallon of water at temperature of 85.

Sea monkeys don't live that long which is why eggs should always be left in the tank. A death and rebirth is continuous. Also, food and temperatures play a big roll in keeping sea monkies.
Here is a great site for sea monkeys.

Sea-monkeys are a trade name for brine shrimp.

While they are pretty hardy, they are sensitive to water conditions. Usually they die before the reach full adult size or reproduce.
