Is this a question or an opinion poll? Funny that I had In-N-Out just yesterday and had not had it in several months.

In-n-Out of course is an institution here in California, especially in Southern California where it was born. Who can forget the deviously truncated bumper stickers "IN-N-OUT URGE" that were the fashion now 20 years ago.

The burgers, fries, and ingredients are always fresh and hot and they are the only burger chain out there that makes their fries fresh in the store instead of out of a giant bag of frozen fries.

They are also known for paying the rank-and-file relatively well compared to the industry and store managers apparently can do very well, also compared to a McD's, BK, etc. store manager.

Compared to the chains I think In-N-Out is probably darn close to the best-tasting and freshest burger out there. Still, you don't go there to get healthy--it's all still unabashedly loaded with calories and fat. On that note, let's not forget how good their milkshakes are.

Before they came full force to Northern California about 7 or 8 years ago I had friends who used to travel about 200 miles to go to the nearest In-N-Out. Such is the allegiance to this burger chain.

If you're ever in Southern California, Tommy's Burgers is also a very good smaller chain with excellent chili-topped burgers and fries that I still miss. Willie's Burgers in Sacramento (close to 16th and Broadway where Tower Records used to be) is the only place I know of outside SoCal that has a "license" (seriously) to replicate the Tommy's burger recipe.

I had never been to one but just a few weeks ago my friends and I drove 5 hours to the nearest In n Out Burger. It was definitely worth it. I had the grilled cheese; it is everything but the actual burger. 4 of the 5 of us that went are vegetarians!
There fries are amazing and the prices are great!
In fact, I am actually wearing the t-shirt I got, right now!
Ahh, so good!

I currently live in Illinois but I will be taking a 10 day vacation to Cali in June. I love it in California. Next summer during college, I will get a summer job there. Hopefully, I will get a chance to go to In-N-Out sometime soon; they are known very well.

Roaches? I doubt that. Those places are way cleaner than any other fast food joint. Their burgers are awesome, their fries are mediocre.
