A lot depends on where you are purchasing. If your property is within 100 kilometers of the coast you cannot hold title except in a trust. Title insurance is not available in most areas (except Baja).

I higfhly recommend you visit Henry and Nadine Laxon's site mazinfo.com, they have an excellent and very comprehensive section of real estate in mexico.

I bouth a home on the beach in Mazatlan with a trust and had an easy and excellent experience with them as my guide.
