"D"--more immigration from Europe is the most logical answer.

Tip: If you don't know the answer on a multiple choice question, look for the most logical answer.
Think about what you do know about a subject to determine what is logical.
What usually happens when gold is discovered anywhere? What happened in California when gold was discovered?
Lots of people go to a place where gold is discovered because its human nature for people to want wealth.
So--that would eliminate A & B.
Mmmmm--fewer conflicts with Britain? maybe yes, maybe no--but probably not as gold usually leads to more conflicts with other countries.
So, that leaves "D". Who lives in New Zealand now?--natives and fair skinned people--some from Australia but it would seem logical that people from Europe, especially Britain, would immigrate there.
In college, you sometimes get a professor who gives trick questions and the most logical answer is usually the wrong one. However, you'll learn if you have one of those kinds of instructors after the first test.
