I am just about to graduate from university with a Media Arts degree. I am struggling to find jobs.

I have been offered to be Assistant Manager at a shop which is a new store, but the same brand that I work for part time as a supervisor. It's quite decent money to start off with (18k) but I don't want a career in retail!

Shall I take the job?

You can always take the job, while continuing to search in your field. Eating is nice!

18k with a college degree doesn't sound like "decent money" to me. Sounds like the pay you would get as a cashier at a fast food place. If you are seriously having trouble finding a job, any job is better than no job but keep looking.

In my opinion it would be in your best interests to take the job. It's not every day that an opportunity like this comes up and you would be stupid not to take it. You seem like the type of person who spends a lot of money and has to borrow inordinate amounts from friends - it is for this reason that I don't really think you're in the position to be turning down work of this nature, or indeed pay.

I would. At least you would be able to start paying back any student loans right away. Most college graduates don't actually get a job right away in the field that they have their degree in, so any job is better than not having one at all.

Take it, but keep looking for other positions. Nothing ties you to the position if something more appealing or pays better comes along.
