Alot of people know that Nightmare before Christmas was Tim Burton's film, but Henry Selick directed it because Tim was directing Batman Returns. I know films like Cabin Boy that Tim produced but was considered to direct. I also know that Tim wanted to do the 3rd Batman but Joel did it. What other films do you know that Tim Burton was considered to direct?

...a few years ago, Tim Burton was attached to direct the new Superman movie (based on a treatment developed by Kevin 'Clerks' Smith), and he reportedly had a few new, abeit twisted ideas on how to reinvent the franchise; Nicholas Cage, of all people, was slated to star as the Man of Steel.
However, the production & money 'suits' over at Warner Bros. apparently did not care for Burton's reinventive ideas, despite being in the initial throes of preproduction; as a result, Burton walked away, and Nicholas Cage himself followed soon after, in favor of pursuing yet another superhero film...some little ditty of a movie, entitled "Ghost Rider", under the directorial tutilage of Mark Steven Johnson.
(I had hoped to have some webpages, as I usually do, to provide further information...but unfortunately, my favorite website, www.comingsoon.net did not carry the article archives as far back as I needed, as far as Burton's involvement in the Superman film...sorry!!!)
