Java development is already free. Free compiler that compiles code written using a free word processing program like notepad.

You can use the Bloodshed IDE to write C++ but I would suggest you use Eclipse ( http://www.eclipse.org ). Eclipse can do everything and is multiplatform. Eclipse standardly is used to do JAVA but you can also download the Eclipse CDT which allows you to write C/C++ programs. Also FYI Java is open-sourced and if you download the JDK ( http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp ) you will get the free javac compiler. And open-sourced means free. Good luck with everything.

If you're good with computer syntax and have Windows XP then you already have what you need, the Windows Script Host. Just use notepad to edit them.
