I posted a question about my experience on a bus yesterday, when three teenagers proceded to swear viley in front of a bus full of pensioners. Everyone sat and ignored them - no one quite knew what to do.
How do we make those in charge of the bus services take responsibility? Surely a bunch of decent people shouldn't have to listen to brude language (eg discussing pubic hairdos')
I'd love to see the return of the bus conductor. Any suggestions?
And why would somene want to report me for this question and on what grounds????? I did put it in etiquette because there wasn't a category for non-etiquette - swearing in front of anybody, especially pensioners.

Pubic hairdos isn't swearing, but then I'm being polite and not using the language they used. That would get me removed for violations.

If you can't find the conductor, what about the customer service of the bus operation. Tell them what happened, and ask about the policy on it, if there is one. And if there is, you can remind the conductor of ir, if not, suggest making a policy.

Would a bus conductor really have been able to stop these people? As you said, everyone sat and ignored them. Perhaps if you had said something you might have shocked them into silence. Worth a try, at any rate.

The thing is, whenever you go out in public you run the risk of hearing or seeing something that might offend you. It's unpleasant, but the only solution would be to stay at home and turn off your radio and your telly.

public hairdo's isnt swearing viley-there is nothing wrong with standing up and speaking out-but when another is in charge sometimes the best way to do it is to report them to the head of the bus company by bus number-and another thing is speaking up indirectly-have a cell phone and say "I am sorry I cant hear you there is a bunch of people out here swearing -and say it louder when you talk a bit more." or make your own senario-I like to put Jesus and salvation into it to give others hope and a yes instead of just a no=John 3 repented of sin and born again with Jesus my best friend.

so speak up but do it smartly

What state are you in? Some states have ordinances against swearing in public and the offenders can be fined.

Yahoo answers is filled with yahoos who have nothing better to do than report people for no good reason. Unfortunatly, it's getting worse, not better. I've had at least a dozen violations. One, I admit I probably deserved because I was making fun of Dick Cheney's permanent sneer, although it was true. But the others? Its just how Yahoo works. I doubt the reason your question was removed was for miscatagorization.

I think people should be more considerate of others..don't place the blame on the bus driver either..he isn't there to baby sit..maybe they should have someone..security on the bus as well...As far as the violation..welcome to the club yahoo answers people allow racist comments to stay up..but delete non violating questions.
