You know what I think? I think "Right on, Grams". To each his own. One's individuality is just that. Who am I (or you) to judge? If someone likes to wear a mohawk or wants green hair I think the same about them as I do the people who wear it in a ponytail or have highlights. One person drags around a $500 purse and another puts in a lip piercing. Some may think a person with a $500 purse looks rediculous for an outrageously priced tissue holder (lol) and others think that a person with gauged ears used for hanging clothes (lol) looks rediculous. In the end, why do I (you) care? :-)

Tell you what? All those old people had those piercings and tattoos or whatever when they were young and unfortunately as you grow older, you wish you didn't have them BUT you can't remove them. Now the hair color is something else. Maybe just for a change an old person decides to have green colored hair. It's ODD indeed.

I think it doesn't look good on anyone, but that doesn't mean they should be treated differently. They can do whatever they want at whatever age and should be given respect no matter what. I do think people are more accepting of younger people having piercings/dyed hair. I think this is because people associate those things with hippies and unemployment. When you are young, its ok to not have a job and be a radical but as you get older its looked at as not earning your share and helping society.

For my personal view, I think that they look ridiculous on everyone. (I can't say that I believe in keeping things natural, because I colour my hair...but I stick to a 'natural' colour.)
I wonder, often, what is in the mind of that individual when they colour their hair outrageous colours, pierce obvious parts of their bodies and tatoo themselves...what inspires them to do that...are they trying to represent themselves to society in a specific way? It is something that can certainly work against them in mainstream society...and may prohibit them from otherwise attaining certain employment. It will also give society a very specific impression of them...and perhaps, not an impression they wish to give...

i think if it was something they want, and it's not to gross, why not? I'm one of those older people and i have changed my hair color at the drop of a hat,(dyed parts of my hair Viking purple to support my fave pro football team)have a tattoo and some piercings, but most of the stuff(except the hair) is subdued, because people i know have said i need to act my age, i just ignore them. lol

Honestly, it doesn't really bother me
I don't care if people look like wooly mammoths
i just want the behavior in check.
Oh you know, the common decency a society needs.
