You're right, I think it's a shortened version of "I am going to TAKE A moment and DUMP something off at the loo". When you gotta go, you really don't have time for chit-chat.

A similar analogy when you clean out your house you gather up all the sn!t thats no good any more we put it all in a big pile then we take it to the DUMP Hence; Take a DUMP the toilet is the vehicle witch we use to take our stuff to the big DUMP under ground in the back yard!!!!
