Pretty much the only things that London has that you can't get in the US are food related. For example, digestive biscuits sound gross but are good, squash is a type of juice concentrate that is yummy as well. And there are loads of candies that are not available in the US such as many Cadbury products, Smarties (not the ones you're thinking of) and Mars bars.
If you don't want your gift to be food you could ask that he bring you something that is very "London" even though you can likely find similar stuff here. For example Pashmina scarfs are very big there and sold everywhere, Anything from Burberry is quite English, or you could ask for a Vera Bradley purse. One of my favorite shops is Topshop so you could ask for something from there. I think they recently built a topshop in New York but other than that there are none in the US and they have very trendy and cute clothes and accessories. Tell him Topshops are everywhere in London but the biggest one is at Oxford Circus.
London is also full of markets that sell jewelry and antiques. I like my antique tea cup and saucer set that I got at Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill.
Lastly, there's a store called Lush that is big in Europe. They have these in the US now as well but unless you live in a big city you may have never heard of it. They have fresh handmade cosmetics that work really well and smell so yummy. There's one in Covent Garden, London so he could bring you some lovely soap or other beauty product.
Hope some of this helped!

I remember the chocolates were different than here and the cookies were different too, like digestive biscuits. They also have a wide array of beverages that you can not find here like currant juice.
