I don't feel old but I think when people call you Ma'am they really mean b*tch. At least that's what it sounds like when people call me ma'am. "calm down ma'am" "stop yelling ma'am" "sorry we messed up your food ma'am" Go head just replace ma'am with b*tch it fits :-)

Nope, being brought up in Texas, it's a sign of respect. It's when you're not called sir or ma'am that you get offended down here. I drive a bus and I'm only 3 years older than some of the kids that I drive and I require them to call me Ma'am.

No, sir. I was raised that it is not a sign of age rather a show of respect. I say Sir and Ma'am to my children, my grandchildren, anyone I am speaking with. And I always feel like someone is doing their manner training if I get a Ma'am in return.
Thank you sir, for bringing this topic up for review.

I don't only because I was raised in the south and it was expected of you to call someone sir or ma'am, however, my wife does when someone calls her ma'am..

I hate it when people my age call me "honey" like I'm their little sister or something. Like some chick at a makeup coutner says " Ok honey that'll be...." - yuck. But Ma'am is no bueno also .
