I want to be a freelance web designer. My dilemma is, after i build a web site using programs like Dreamweaver, after i deliver the web site to the customer, how will they be able to update the site? do i need to do it, or will they be able to do it on their own? not everyone is able to buy or use Dreamweaver, so what other way can my customer update his/her web site? Thanks for your input!

If you are able to, its best to develop management system with database so the user/customer can upload on his own news and images, change the text on pages etc.

In general, building a website is not a process which completes when you set it on line. Support, regular update and SEO* are very important for the success of the website as a web product or simply web face of the company.

If you're going to deliver a site to a customer with the goal of giving them a site they'll be able to update, then you'll need to make sure they have the means to update it, by asking them *their* skills. Will they have to hire someone else to do it, or can they do it themselves. Can the customer write html/css/javascript? If so, then you need to write crisp, clear, well-commented html/css/javascript. Can the customer handle an online page builder like, say, google page builder? Then you need to build the site that way. It all depends upon the customer's skillset or upon a skillset you may be able quickly and/or easily to pass on to the customer...
