say for instance if you're black, do you feel a little apprehensive eating a piece of chicken in public?

I'm well aware that that is a stereotype hence the question genius... I'm not saying there's any truth to it... I just gave an example... I didn't feel like running down a list of stereotypes for other races.. I gave an example of one from my own race.

ugh... this question is about how stereotypes have affected your behavior in public if any... It's not to offend anyone or promote stereotypes... So you grow up!

I was raised the youngest of three daughters by a very feminist, baby-boomer mother. For years, I refused to carry a purse in public, or oogle a good looking guy or do other "girly" stuff like that. To this day, I can be a bit butch, and I still hate wearing a dress...LOL

Yeah, I'm of Italian descent, and we're unfortunately known for talking really loud on cell phones and talking with our hands, so I try to refrain from both in public.
Also, as a woman, I try never to have to stop and ask for directions, because that's what we're known for, right? Getting lost? Nope, I won't give the gas station attendants the satisfaction of rescuing another poor lost woman. Also, I try not to put on makeup in the rearview mirror while driving.

I'm white, so I feel really awkward carrying a briefcase and wearing a suit and tie, but at the same time it's a role I am forced to play.

And watermelon. Oh yeah and talking too loud, frowning or having an angry expression on my face, using ebonics even though sometimes it feels like a first language, oh and wearing a hoodie because you know,... they're ALWAYS suspicious of black dudes with hoodies on!

Why should I or anyone else care what people think? The people who are stereotyping others are the ones who are scared of their own identity.

Well i am black and a vegetarian. I am so in to rock music and i am just a total freak who is into these things. If i listen to rock music in public on my phone and then very loud, yeah that is something i wouldn't do.

Questions like this promote stereotypical thinking. I would not change my behavior to fit the description of what people around think I should have to fit.

No - I could care less what other people think of me or what I am doing.
Why do I get a feeling someone is going to report you for this question?

Stereotypes are the weak person's way of dealing with their own shortcomings and failures.
