This is a silly question, but I'll answer it anyway... if nothing more than to enlighten the ignorant.

First off, your question is based on bias and discrimination more than fact. There is no such thing as an eating preference that holds true for all people of any single category. Individuals are just too diverse.

As for me, I order diet soda because I do not like the taste of regular soda. If given a regular soda by mistake, I will throw it out.

There is no basis in fact that this preference has anything to do with a persons weight, however, putting simple logic to use here, why would a diet savy person drink calories that are completely void of any beneficial value whatsoever? A coke, sugared or not, will not satisfy hunger, nor contribute vitamins or protiens. While a meal at McDonalds' vice is high fat, the food itself still has some nutritional value whereas sodas do not.

So, in conclusion...if indeed fat people do order more diet sodas with their hambugers, then it shows that fat people are more nutritionally savy than their empty calorie consuming skinny counterparts!

*Note on diabetes: I work in a hospital, and most diabetics I come into contact with are at or near a normal weight. Excess weight is a risk factor in developing diabetes, it does not mean that fat people are diabetics. But diabetes is certainly one reason people of all weights should avoid sugared soda. And btw, weight alone is not an indicator of a quality diet, nor good fitness. There are plenty of skinny, unhealthy people.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I've joked that by ordering the diet cola, it takes the curse off the rest of the meal. Seriously, some people prefer the taste of diet soda.

Another approach is that you can cut your calories in the places where it least matters, and for some people that's the soda. It's about 300 calories for a regular soda, so it's an easy way to cut out enough calories to make up for the extra fries in the super-sizing.

For most, it's not a matter of an attempt at dieting, but rather that the Diet Coke just tastes better, rather than the sickly-sweet taste of regular Coke.

That is soooo true. I worked at a fast food restaurant for 5 years, and it happened all the time.

I think they are trying to make themselves feel better. Oh yeah....it's ok to eat like a zillion calories, because this diet coke has zero! It all evens out. lol
