I know of the first 3 dimensions. But I have also heard of many others. Please explain them to me.

The fourth dimension is time. The rest of the dimensions, and nobody is absoulutely positive how many their are, are rolled up very small. For our purposes, they are largely mathematical and are needed when we try and solve equations that explain the universe.

There are 11 dimensions in all in string theory. The more familiar four dimensions are called length, width, depth, and time. The other seven have been named after the characteristic personality traits of their various discoverers, according to their graduate students: Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey.
