What is the maximum voltage it can safely handle?

Maximum voltage problem. Resistors are assigned a power rating. If the power rating is exceeded significantly, the resistor will overheat and crack. Suppose you have a 9 k , 0.3 watt resistor. What is the maximum voltage it can safely handle?

then P=v^2/R
in this case,
v=sqrt(P*R)
v=sqrt(0.3*9000)
