Rent a small trencher. They're easy to use.

I do not know the name of the tool but it looks like a hoe, except the blade is straight out with the handle and it is curved on the end. You step on it and roll the blade at the same time. It makes a "cut" in the ground big enough to stuff the wire into. Maybe not the easiest way, but the cheapest.

find a place where you can rent an edger you can set them to the depth you need. its fast and easy..
