if it is not gushing out only dripping out then you should be safe as long as you check when you stop for gas or a break and fill as needed.the leak can be fixed it all depend on where its coming from. if it is coming from the pan then you will need a new gasket, if it is coming from the drain bolt you will need some liquid gasket. should be an easy fix if its those two.

It depends on how bad the leak is...but if you need to drive it that distance, then you need to take some extra oil with you and stop every hour or so and check the level and add as needed. After you've checked it a few times, you should be able to get a feel for how quickly it is losing oil and adjust accordingly.
As far as fixing it, again it depends on where/what is leaking. You might try changing your oil to a high mileage formulation that has seal conditioners in it. This most likely won't stop the leak all together, but it might help slow it down....but hard to say without knowing where the leak is.

IF there is sufficient oil it shouldn't be a problem. But if it's leaking out, how do you know it will be sufficient, and remain that way for the entire trip? You don't. AAA plus just means when you call them after blowing up the engine, they will tow it off the roadway for you and take it to the nearest repair center.
I can't begin to tell you how to fix the oil leak since you haven't told us where it's leaking from. Loose or stripped drain plug would be a cheap fix. (Tighten, or replace). Leaking from the oil pan due to bad gaskets, not a bad fix. Hole in oil pan, getting worse now, new pan. Bad rear seal, starting to get major now...

Depends on the leak I would repair the car then drive the 400 miles. Oil leaking down messes up everything and there is the risk of fire.

Seals are most likely leaking. Last summer I drove 748 miles with leaky seals, just depends on your motor and luck. Engine Stop Leak can be a quick fix for your car, not the best thing, but if moneys tight and you gotta go it's something to think about.

It would not be expensive to have your car put up on a lift in any repair shop and see where the oil is leaking from. Then you'll have an idea of what can be done to fix it. Put a couple quarts of oil in your trunk so that you can top off your oil on your trip.

you're assume to each 3 months/each and every 3,000 miles, based on the longivety of the oil (often not stated to flow any greater than 6 months on a unmarried oil exchange), so which you're way previous that element. do not you understand a thank you to envision the oil? verify to verify how darkish the oil is, the darker, the greater serious. anyhow, you will desire to deliver your automobile in for a metamorphosis, in the present day, as a results of fact keeping the comparable previous for that long would reason clogging and different undesirable problems... this is basically like 35$ what has been keeping you back from acceptable maintenance of your automobile?

There is nothing cheap about fixing a car! But you better get it fixed. It will only get worse. I wouldn't trust it on a 200 mile trip!
