My husbands mother passed 07/2006 and we are just now starting a probate she had no will. We are told we need a attourney,If at all possible would like to do it ourselves. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

if other parties are fighting for part of the estate have lawyers or even not, you may want to at least talk to a lawyer to see how much it will cost then weight it against the value of the estate

Not what you are going to want to hear, but get an attorney...Probate is too complex to do on your own. Do not sell or take any property until you get a full financial picture or assets and liabilities.
