Virginity does NOT refer to a body part, or anything of a tangible physical nature. "Virginity" refers to one's lack of sexual intercourse experience.

A "virgin" is a person that has never had vaginal sexual intercourse before. There are people that may argue that one is still a virgin if he/she has had anal sex, and there are some people that will not consider one a virgin if he/she has had anal sex, even if that person has not had virginal intercourse. There are also people that will claim that someone who has only had sex via rape is still essentially a "virgin," because it was not his/her conscious choice, therefore the person is still sexually pure in the eyes of God or other authoritative figures. But medically speaking, a "virgin" is someone that has never had vaginal intercourse(sex) before. Hence, a "virginity" is the lack of sex that constitutes someone being a "virgin."

I think I know why you are confused and thought that a "virginity" was a body part. When a girl loses her virginity(i.e., has sex for the first time ever), her hymen(the skin stretched across the opening of her vagina) gets torn. Some people refer to this hymen as the girl's "virginity," since it is generally assumed that most girls have an intact hymen during virginity, but "lose" their hymen after having sex. But to say that is more of a "figure of speech" than medical terminology.

Virginity is a term used to describe the state of never having engaged in sexual intercourse. A person who still has his or her virginity can accordingly be described as being a virgin. It is not a part of the body at all. Plain and simple.

Losing your Virginaty is when you are penatrated by a penis. Most people think it is when hymen is in tact that you are still a virgin. And not when your hymen is "broken". It is like a small peice of tissue in front of the vagina. But the hymen is not the indicator of virginity. In every medical way, you are a virgin until you have penatration. But that is just one side of sex.

It's not a part of the body. That's wrong.
It refers to the state of when a person has not had sex yet. They are called a virgin, or they still have their virginity.

Medically, virginity means that the hymen was not torn.

Hymen is located in the bottom of vaginal channel and is a kind of skin that is torn by sexual penetration or rough impact.
