How much would a new car cost if the workers at the big 3 made $15.00 an hour?

Probably 1/3 the price (there is a study out there somewhere). People complain that jobs are going overseas. If you had to have some work done and you could get one person to do it for $5 and someone else wants $15 just because he always got $15, then who would you hire? Can't blame the company for hiring cheaper labor. They are companies, they are not the government. If you do not think someone is getting paid enough, take your own money and give it to them or stop buying japanese cars and buy American. But you do not, you just want the "companies" to spend more money but you do not what to spend more of YOUR money. Well when they spend more money, they have to raise their prices to pay for it. If they do not, then the lose stock holders and they have no money to buy new equipement and then go out of buisness because the overseas people are not only cheaper, but also produce better quality.

It is really easy to say that someone else should pay for something. Either shut up or pay up.

You know what also adds to the big cost? The company has to continue paying it's retiree benefits. Ford says that over 2000.00 of the cost of each of their vehicles goes to pay former employees a pension.

C'mon, in this day and age, no one has company pensions anymore. You either have a 401K or an IRA but a company pension??? those days are gone.

The auto makers should do like the airlines and cancel pensions. Do it nicely, set these people up with IRA's and 401K's but wean them off of the company tit.

Probably the same--they'd just find something else to spend the money on, like paying their shareholders instead of paying their employees.

they make an average of $69.00 an hour plus overtime and benefits. you do the math!
