I posted a ? yesterday about my cramping, I truely thought I may be dialating early or something.I'm only 33 weeks. My Dr. was in surgery all day yesterday and couldn't see me so I went to the hospital last night and they told my that my cramping was from dehydration?? I plan on calling MY doctor today and getting his opinion. But I truely think that ER Doctor was crazy. There's no was I'm dehydrated, I drink 2 liters of water EVERY day.

Yeah dehydration can cause contractions, but they usually go away once your hydrated again...however if your staying hydrated most likely what your were experiencing were braxton hicks.

I do agree about seeing your regular doctor, or at least another doctor in the office (if there is more than one), and expalin the situation.

Could it have been from hunger?

A couple of Sunday mornings ago, I showered before eating. Not smart. I used to do that without thinking pre-pregnancy (I used to go hours at a time without eating; Sure, when I did eat, it was healthy, but spacing eating times wasn't healthy) Anyway, throughout my shower and when I was drying my hair, I had adominal cramps and I was worried. I was also not happy with myself for not eating first. Even worse, I decided to wait until after I dried my hair. I just kept praying that everything was okay. Eventually, I did feel better, especially after I had a bowl of cereal (with soymilk).

Yet, even with my baby, I would like to put off going to the doctor as much as possible. The whole bill thing. (Even though it's not the best insurance, I just thank God I have insurance again.) If you're not feeling well again today, definately call.

You *can* have contractions that are caused by dehydration...

but if you are drinking 2 liters of water a day and still dehydrated then there is something else going on.

Definitely check in with your caregiver.

I have heard that dehydration will cause cramping but you said you drink a lot of water. I'm only 8 weeks so I dont know about being that far along yet. Maybe you've overdone it, too active?
