I don't think so. Bigger budget deficits, out of control federal spending in DC after 6 years of Republican control, more bloated government agencies, but A LOT of lip service to smaller government, fiscal responsibility, blah, blah, blah...

No the GOP uses conservatives to win elections. GOP is headed by corporate interests and need conservatives to win. As soon as conservatives don't serve that purpose they will be discarded...example GOP so eager to back Giuliani, a pro-life, pro-gun control, pro-gay candidate. Might as well back a Democrat who is tough on crime. Conservatives ought to start a third party and win elections on their terms if they value their principles...or you could sell them out to win elections.

I agree. For the most part, Republicans in office at most levels, seem to be "Democrat lite." A true conservative, like myself, would never get elected. I favor reforms that get government out of virtually everything, except national defense and home land security.

Conservativism is served by individuals, regardless of party afiliation.

Modern Liberals seem to consider themselves the sole protectors of the earth. Farmers were conservationists when modern Liberals didn't exist.

What has modern Liberalism really done to save the planet? Created a seal over-population which has blighted the salmon population, for one. Keep tinkering with mother nature and claim to believe in survival of the fittest.

EDIT: I think I didn't catch the gist of your question. Anyway, Conservatives and Liberals are found in both parties. Some of the Democrats elected in November are more Conservative than some of the Republicans who got the boot.

Republicans are not really practicing conservatism with the thrust of waging wars against other countries thereby disregarding budget resulting to deficit.

No one party ever meets the needs of all it's constituents when you have a two party system. The problems lies in the fact that if the conservative vote didn't vote Republican they would have no vote at all. The alternative is worse.

Not very well. The only problem is that the alternative is the Democrats, who would serve it notably less well.
