Love.
Some people believe you live once, you die & become wormfood.
Some people (like me) believe you live, your body dies & your soul lives forever in the afterlife.
Some people believe that you live many times. That after your soul leaves your body, it finds another body & you go through it all again, having a different experience.
But no matter what you believe, you have to make the most of your life and that means filling it with love. Love yourself and be good to yourself. Do things that you enjoy. Love others & share your joy with them. Love the world & appreciate all the beauty that it has to offer. Then when you die, you can die happy knowing that you've lived a full & meaningful life. You can hope for Heaven, hope to come back again or hope to just sleep for eternity, but whatever you think is going to happen, you leave this world knowing that you lived a good life & you can be at peace with that.
Love is the meaning of life. As simple as that. Without love, life is meaningless.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Each life has a purpose. I believe it cannot be given without it. Think of it as a contract. It has a start date and an end date. In between these dates is the agreed work that is to be done. If the contractor is not doing the work as per the contract, then there is breach and the contract is invalid. Therefore, to find life's meaning, you should find your purpose and live it out, otherwise, what are you living for?

Every day it's the same old thing - breathe, breathe, breathe! lol!
The worry is not about the meaning of life -- but the meaningfulness of what you Do with your life. Think of yourself as a silver urn that has fallen from a shelf and gotton dented -- maybe not as beautiful as you once were and not taken down from the shelf too often. Then one day the silversmith (God) takes you down and holds you to the fire (difficult times). He melts you down and makes you a more useful vessel. Not the same as before you were tested (by difficult lesssons learned), but your usefulness (lessons learned) has increased many times over. Now you are chosen by many because of your usefulness(knowledge & wisdom)!

Life is like a peice of artwork or a recording of music. Everyone hears it and sees it, but everyones definition of it its different. One owns interpretation of a song, or a painting may differ at different times. What may seem beautiful and peacefull may change at any given time. So to me the meaning of life is always fluid, always changing. You cannot capture life, just like you cannot capture its meaning.

I think there are two key things:
1. Seeking. I think seeking things in life (experience, love, lust, knowledge, fitness, wealth, job satisfaction, peace, supremacy) give it meaning. Obtaining those things is often less satisfying than you expect. But there is always something else to seek.
2. Love. Giving love, and receiving it, is the other thing that gives life meaning. For example, lovingly tending to a partner who has the flu, making them chicken soup, and making them feel loved.
In short, seeking and loving give life meaning.
