color change
odor change
effervescence (gas formation/bubbling)
formation of precipitate (some solid stuff on the bottom of the container)

contrary to popular belief, change in state does not necessarily mean a chemical change; it's merely a physical change. try boiling water... water (liquid) changes to water vapor (gas) but the chemical composition is still the same: H2O.

Chemical change takes place when the chemical properties of the substances taking place are totally different frm the chemical properties of the substance(product) formed.
With that change of colour, change of state, odour also changes
