Recently, our old pal, took the bold move to take offensive words out or `Rap music. "Good for you, Mr. Simons", I say. No one needs to hear those terms that put women down. I think you're treading closely to Freedomw of Speech? But if it can clean up the Air Waves? I'm for it.
But then I got to thinking? (Uh oh!) If we can eliminate words, that put Women dow? why not take words out. That offend the name of Our Lord, Jesus Christ? Our God as Himself? It's commonplace, for all types of Entertainment. To trash Our Savior. Can't we take those names out, also.
And if we do that? Where will it all end? sure, we'll have cleaner Airwaves. But at what cost.

My solution, as in all posts. Is to clean it up, from the INSIDE. Let `em say whatever they wish. But let's take the enjoyment, OUT of putting Women down. Let's put God back in our frame of mind. And not have it be used as a point of showing Ego. Let's put happiness in. Where now, harrassment is a mainstay.

I don't want this to come off like a Sermon. I'm only wanting to keep our Freedoms. And still clean up the airwaves. Ans the best way to do it. is from within.
Question: Isn't this the best way? And how would you do to make it so?

God Bless, each & every one who responds.

That's an intelligent way of airing your opinion. Lots of valid points made.
I tend to side with 50 Cent, though.
He recently did an interview about the words used in rap songs and said that if people will judge songs by content - it's all forms of entertainment.
If we want to judge entertainment, let's include motion pictures, too. Let's not look at one thing and not look at entertainment as a whole. In essence, I'm not suppose to say it, but I can show it and say it. Double standard.
He's right, in a sense.
I don't see anyone criticizing Quentin Tarantino films with all the blood, gore, AND offensive language.
They put "Parental Advisory" or "Explicit lyrics" stickers on the CDs just as they put "Rated R" on those type of movies.
Makes me wonder what the underlying message is here.
I mean - profane language is spoken in both mediums (music and movies), but music is the only one under the gun here. Why?
Guess it's a rhetorical question. We all have our opinions.

First off, I don't agree with Simmons on most issues . He's already profited from the hate and filth . If he's really gonna change , then I'll support that .
But the underlying reason that it even got THIS far is the turning away from our own Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ . To deny that, is to deny Him . And we have ourselves to blame . Not just rappers . Remember, it was us who paid $$ for this crap . Rap is not just dirty, hateful words , and the promotion of such . Rap promotes Coveting your neighbors goods . They brag about all the women they get, drinking the most expensive liquors , driving the most expensive vehicles, and wearing the most expensive jewelry and clothing . They teach our youth that if you talk and act like them, then you too will have these trappings . Most everything about rap is sinful .
Somebody will surely show that a rapper or two does promote good, but they're only kidding themselves when they ignore the over-whelming lot of them all .

People ask for 'answers' everyday on here. . . well there is only one answer that is always right . And that answer is God !

Hitler and Nazi Germany did the same things. China censors speech, videos, concerts performances, and actually every activity its citizens do. Our First Amendment allows us to do these things free of SUPERVISION by the government.

His music isn't played on the radio. Heck most of Def Jam's stuff is for private consumption only. So if Simmons is trying to cleanup his image, that's a whole other beast than try to have speech police.
If you don' t like those kind of songs, DON'T buy them.
Help1 WTF. is happening to everyone wanting to police every frigging thing. Why don't we police fat people too. It's very unpleasant for some people. Take donuts out their hands? Why not smelly people?
Or people who speak with a lisp, like Simmons?
Gee Wilikers. Can't we just all try to be a little more free spirited and tolerant?

Buzzard,sir........I never listen to rap. To me it is all noise...not at all something that is remotely interesting or enjoyable.
I remember a funny line in the movie..."Something's Gotta Give"...... ..."C'mon, how many words can you rhyme with *****?"
This is all so subjective, really. We all have the right to be delighted and offended....I like what Ernest said:"Remember, it was us who paid $$ for this crap ." I think that if the money stops, people listen.
I see lots of strange things that make no sense to me....why do basketball players get paid a fortune and if one of them hits their own coach, it's all pretty much okay??!! Meanwhile, the teachers of the world are eeking by!! MONEY buys the tickets to the basketball games....when that slows down....well, it would be very interesting to see if anything would change.
I'm starting to get too wordy....sorry.
Good question.

If I hear something I don't want to listen to.. I just turn it off... if everyone did that then they would start to lose money... when they started to lose money they would change... in todays world that is the only way I believe change will happen.
