"A Better Life for All"
I ask in respect of "all" and not the few who may be better off. In which way and what have they delivered to the "masses?"

Nope, and I´m not certain that anybody with a researched opinion could agree to that statement.

"A better life for some" would be more appropriate.

I´m not sure they would even be able to change the slogan to "A better life for more compared to ten tears ago".

And when they said "a better life for all" did that include the millions of ilegal immigrants flowing into South Africa as well?

I am concerned with the plight of the immigrants but surely we need to sort our own countries problems out first before we inherit more problems from the rest of Africa?

There has been some delivery to the "masses" but in a non-sustainable way.

Correct me if I´m wrong but surely a better life for all means food, shelter and clothing?
(I won´t even mention the crime.)
We only have enough money to build so many houses (from taxes) and space to plant so much food, but we see the demand increasing while we do nothing about ilegal immigration or education about family planning?!

I´m sorry I just can´t see the sense in this.

xx edit xx

The BBC did a segment last night about the UN investigating the forced removals of Africans from low cost housing schemes, the inferior quality of the houses, the corruption scandals in contract tender phases and the concerns of future delivery of housing ahead of the Soccer World - as a large pecentage of the budget intended for housing is now going towards the construction of soccer stadiums.

Mars attack - the question was about the ANC not the NP.

I doubt that most of the masses are economically better-off than 13 years ago. The social changes that we hear of, like no more pass books, came long before that.

Democracy has been a very good thing. Whether the ANC government has been doing good things, like giving a better life to all, is not even worth debating. A great deal of the better lives, were made better by foreign and a few local donors.

The best changes of all, are made by the people themselves. Viva Ubuntu, because the ANC doesn't care.

How many ppl have access to clean water? Electricity?
Joburg CBD is a no-go, service delivery and infrastructure development (which whites put in place) have gone down the drain. Corruption is rampant and AA has descended into reverse rasicm. I can go on about how our beautiful nation has detiorated since the handover of power, esp. since Madiba stepped down (only 1 term! Why?!). While the Nats played a dirty game, the ANC have fumbled the ball and have mainly been scoring own goals (There has been improvements but not enough). Its high time the "masses"
realised the truth, dumped their sentimentality and put in place a goverment that can actually deliver to the people, ALL people of this land!

good question ... since Im not "the masses" and just 55kgs ... I have no idea.

I do know that people that are other races can now use any public toilet, go to the beach, walk around without passbooks etc. This started phasing out at the end of the NPs reign ... so Im not sure who can really get credit for it.

No ! they have not :(
Especially education I feel that is the key to this country being successful.
I feel 40% of the country's budget must go to education in all levels. Yes we will not feel its effects immidately but in the future we will definitely feel it.
O.K fine where I am from (Eastern Cape in Centani) we got electricty 4 years ago and water last year and they built us 2 clinics were people get free medicine, oh and we finaly got a tarted road but only on the main road we still have a lot of gravel roads but I don't think we will ever get free house though like people in the townships do because we build our own houses yes they are not going to apear on "top billing" though they are good to us.

Dont get me wrong I thank the goverment for what they have done for my village I know some villages were not so luck but they will get to them eventually.

But its just the level of poverty of the place people are dependant on monthly grants that is why I feel education will help people to help themselves example I made it out of there thanks to education.

The ANC has failed in terms of eduction the must fund our universities so they can conduct more research and tailor make our curriculum to reach the needs of this country.

If people are empowered by education then everything should fall into place.

I feel really really strong about this I know I have to play my part too helping my primary school.

Maybe I am young and naive

P.S
Brad Morris 8 and his family are living the country!?
That proves there is a GOD out there thank you GOD.

My mother and my sister will be joining me in NYC shortly. They're leaving, along with the millions of others.

What do you think?

Marrs Attacks - I have done the math(s) - in thirteen years the ANC has reduced what used to be South Africa to financial and uninhabitable rubble. Blacks are leaving the country, that's how bad it is.
Under the previous government (1948-1994), South Africa definitely had an unacceptable system of organized racial repression as its governing principal, but also had safe streets, a viable economy and a Western philosophy as its standard. The racism would've disintegrated on its own. It was, as much as anything else, impractical.

The ANC are a motley band of criminals and thugs whose Communist philosophy is out of date, but destroying the country, nevertheless.

The 'legacy of apartheid' excuse is getting old.

I thing the slogan was "A Better Life for All (our mates)"

While the Asian countries of the British Empire have made successes of their independence, the majority of the inhabitants of black Africa were undoubtedly better off under white rule.
