I don't live in the U.K. so not sure of the laws there, but in general, it would be up to the officer that pulled you over, if you were pulled over, to deem whether or not you could stop appropriately when needed it you were in a cast.

My ex was in a cast for several months after a car accident and asked her Dr. about permission to drive so she could get a slip "just in case" and they would not give her one as they did not want the liability, but told her it was up to her as to how well she felt she could manage the car. She had on one of those space boot sort of things and didn't seem to have any trouble stopping on a dime when the need occurred as she used her thigh muscles, not her ankle, which was broke to stop the car. If you drive and are stopped, you could argue that point.

In an automatic, with the left foot in the cast, yes. In that case your foot is not required to maintain proper control.

When the foot is casted, there is no way that a person can drive properly. Thus, it will not be allowed.

I've asked the question to the police before and the answer is no unless its an automatic and your left leg is the one in a cast.

I don't think so no, as would or at least could (if you came across a particularly obnoxious PC) be classed as dangerous driving.

Isn't the law that you have to be in control of the vehicle at all times or something similar?

I wouldn't think so. You could be done for dangerous driving as you are, unfit to drive..

NO - you would be deemed to not have proper control of the vehicle - even in an automatic!
