What's your budget like? You looking for a card around $200 or something at $300 or $550? There are different "best buys" at different price points. That said, if you're simply looking for the best gaming video card currently on the market, Nvidia's 8800 GTX has an ironclad grip on that title.
ATI's R600 line (the 2900 XTX) looks to take that crown, but is not available yet, and last I heard the release date was delayed until the 3rd quarter of 2007.
