If the coach is from India, then Sunil Gavaskar. He has vast experience and an insightful and analytical mind. He has had a lot of batting success on the fast bouncy pitches of the West Indies when he was playing for India. He could help Indian batsmen overcome their phobia of playing on fast tracks. His stature as an one of the all time greats in cricket would ensure that he commands respect from all team members. Being an Indian himself, he can assimilate himself perfectly with the team and understand the mentality and concerns of the team members.
If it is a foreign coach, then Dave Whatmore. He has worked wonders with rookies like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Though an Australian, he comes from Sri Lanka and is thus accustomed to Asian conditions. His approach is analytical too and he is a great strategist.

It is time India had a coach from India itself instead of spending a huge sum on foreign coaches. The name of Mohinder Amarnath is doing the rounds lately and I think he is a good replacement for Greg Chappel. He has lot of cricket in his blood, his brother was also a former Indian player, his father was a renowned player in his days and more he is a strict disciplinarian and an affable character too at the same time. Being old enough, he can command respect both from the senior as well as junior players and he knows the 'in & out' of Indian cricket.

Our team doesn't need a coach, because they have a lot of potential with them, such that without the coach they will play like as they are playing now.

Just kidding.

It can be Robin singh. He is an active participant and the fever will catch the team players to. For an young team, he will be like an army commander and get good things from them.

BCCI have already appointed a Committee to select a suitable coach for Indian Team. Whichever Coach you or me recommends is not going to be selected. Hence why break our head in the matter.

Robin Singh is aa good Option but i feel that Arjuna Ranatunga should be the man.
he was a great captain, who took Lanka from nowhere to a World Cup victory.
Legends in Lankan team like Jayasuriya,Muralitharan,Vaas are his mouldings.

BANGLADESH'S coach of course "what moore"
becoz Hes the one who bought SRI LANKA to the level of holding the cup in1996 (i guess the yr is right)
at present taking a lower order team b'desh to the super 8 level(which a top order team india couldnt achieve!)
okay! the point is he is the only coach who could do wonders with a small (USELESS) TEAM.
MOREOVER HES SUITABLE TO THE ASIAN CONDITIONS(working for B'desh and LANKA) BASICALLY THE PEOPLES MENTALITY-the asian conditions!
