Even if you don't believe in buying a lottery ticket for yourself because you think you will never win. You're looking for an inexpensive gift.

A lottery ticket is an inexpensive gift. Would you have trouble buying one as a gift (even when it's up into the high millions) and then taking the chance that you could have just given millions of dollars away?

You can buy 1 or 2 lottery tickets, but everyone knows the odds. If you do, add in a mix of pick 3 or pick 4 numbers, straight or boxed with the receiver's phone number, address, license plate, etc. Also get some scratch off instant win cards. These are common "stocking stuffers" for Christmas, and give instant results that may get $5 or even $50.

If you are worried about giving away a winning lottery ticket, buy two with the same numbers, one for you, the other for the receiver.

I have bought lottery tickets and put them in a birthday card before and they loved it. Of course, the joke was that if they won, they had to give me a cut. I think it's a great inexpensive gift, even though I never buy them for myself. People enjoy the excitement and anticipation of the " what if" when they are waiting for the winning numbers to come out.

No, because in the end you either gave them nothing, a little something, or you gave away millions of dollars! I'd shoot myself! LOL ..... I did give 1 lottery ticket (along with a real gift) to a friend who turned 18, more as a symbolic gesture since she was then old enough to play the lottery.

Yeah, I did that once. It was a birthday present for a girl I didn't know well; and she had asked money.
I really don't like giving money; I gave her this instead. She liked it very much - after all, I had given her what she asked for AND put in a bit of my own idea in it as well AND give her a bit of apprehension for the million dollar price.
Much nicer than just slipping her a couple of banknotes with which she do the grocery shopping tomorrow.

Mind you: This was an alternative to cash as a present.

Yes, I've bought them as a "small" gift at Christmastime along with a nice one but if you don't have much money to work with, I think it's a good gift. As far as if the person won the million..oh well, I guess you could say I just gave them a very good gift!
