I haven't been here for long, but it's a melting pot of world society here. Some of the questions are pitiful in their need, and I try to answer those as sincerely as I do the literate ones. Others are just silly, and I give a silly answer to those, with a big grin. The loaded religious questions I ignore, and the haters I feel pity for, but by and large, we're a cosmopolitan lot. I wouldn't say the Americans are very world wise, but we get along. You won't see me starring, or judging - I'm not an adversarial person normally (I'd sooner make love than war) I like it here - it's relaxing.

Ahh yes, good question. I do not think it is becoming too competitive at all. I just think all the real nice people from the online community have finally found another place where they can post their obscenities and everything else.. ( a little sarcasim there)
As for the religious topics. I think they may get deleted because these days you never know who is going too be offended by a simple question about religion. And since yahoo never intends to offend anyone it is most likely just easier to delete the topic......
Again, great question!!

Yes, and we are all, at some level or another guilty of the competitiveness, yet non of this is our fault. Look, everyone likes to be rewarded, so Yahoo gives the rewards to us in points and the more points we receive, the more answers we want to answer. I mean it almost becomes an addiction for participating in the ask/ answer forum. Yahoo ratings go up and in the end they get the biggest reward.
I'd have to say Yahoo had an Axe to grind in creating such a forum as this. Wouldn't you?

I don't know if this is what you meant, but lately I've been wondering if there are too many "rewards" in YA.
We get points, levels, stars, thumbs up, best answers, a leaderboard for the world, each country, each week, each category and each subcategory - not to mention top contributor badges and now also a contact network.
You'd think this would be enough, but if you go to the suggestion board, it's full of people complaining that they need yet another breakdown of leaderboards - they want to be top of the Leaderboard for Level 3, or they want a Leaderboard for % of best answers, and so on.
When will it ever be enough? And are we on here just to get all these rewards?

I agree with sand&sea. I am tired of people giving rude, ignorant, smart a** answers that are completely irrelevant to the question to inflate their own point total. I asked a light hearted question a few weeks ago and one of the responses was "you just wasted 5 points on a question a chimp could have answered - way to go.". I think that sums up why some people are here. To them, its a game of points and therefore, as you put it, becoming competitive. I am here to relax and unwind, whether asking or answering, not rack up massive points. Hopefully the haters will find a new home.

The spammers...I accept that, and although it's annoying, it's not offensive.
But, the haters and the trolls and the people who hate and report for no reason - that's the worst part.

in step with possibility the Yahoo solutions group would not be a gaggle of lazy morons if it replaced right into a conservative talk board. in step with possibility the Yahoo solutions group would not settle for emotional charm as a stable sufficient reason to eliminate factors / ban money owed from human beings for speaking their concepts.
