Draughts, Checkers in America.
With our mother dead, our father didn't play board games except draughts, he also had chess but never played himself.
We children had great fun playing him in turns, he would give us his coppers and offer 2 shillings or half a crown (now a devalued 10p or 12 1/2p) for each game we won.
We never won, he won the coppers back from us each time.
Until one day I beat him, rather than playing the others he played me again, I beat him, and again, and again, I beat him several games on the trot.
He tried several times after that to beat me at draughts, but couldn't. I made me feel good, because we had always admired his skill, and I had surpassed his skill.
The sad part is he soon lost interest in playing draughts, he had needed to win.

Gotta be Monopoly. The board game Sorry brings back bad childhood memories because we always got mad at eachother when we played it.
