What you need to do is iagine that the fraction you are working with is a part of 100 (that is what a percentage is).
For example: 1/4 as a part of 100...
To make 1/4 into "1/100 ths" you need to multiply by 25..
1/4 = 25/100
This is the same as 25%
So if you have 41/70, you just need to express that in terms of 1/100ths:
41/70 x 10/10 = 410/700 (This is, you notice, exactly the same as 41/70)
(410/700) / (7/7) = (410/7) / 100 (Still the same as 41/70)
So the amount in percent is (410/7)%, or roughly 58.57%
Alternatively, just calculate the fraction, and multiply by 100:
41/70 = 0.5857.......
0.5857 x 100 = 58.57

You need to multiply the 41 by 100 and then divide it by 70.
41x100 is 4100, divide that by 70 and you get 58.57% (can be rounded up to 59 as it's more than .50)
I can't remember the proper mathematical explanation but the 70 (or whatever bottom number you have on a fraction) is the equivalent of 100%. Hope that makes sense.

I get the number I want to find the percentage (eg 41) multiply by 100 and divide by the total (eg 70).
This seems to work for me as I also am a dunce with maths!! I don;t understand the 1 overs etc with some working out...nice and simple.
your number x 100, divide by the total = %

1. Take the denominator into the numerator
2. 70 into 41= set it up, like this 70 into 41.0000=
3. start dividing
70 into410=5times 5x70=350 410-350=60
70 into 600=8times 8x70=560 600-560=40
70 into 400=5times 5x70=350 400-350=50
70 into 500=7 times 7x70=490 500-490=10
4 . to the 4th digit would like this .5857 x 100 or move the decimal point to 2 spaces to the right 58.57%=41/70

First Divide - 41/70
Then Multiply it with 100.
So your percentage turns out to be
(41/70) * 100 = 58.57%

First, by hand or calculator, divide the 41 by 70 to get 0.59 (to the nearest), and move the decimal place 2 places to the right (this is multiplying by 100), and add the % sign..
(41/70) = 0.59
0.59 x 100 = 59%

To change any number, fraction or decimal or whole number to a percentage you multiply it by 100.
In this case you divide 41 by 70 (as it is easier to work in decimal) and then multiply by 100.
You could leave it as a fraction 410/7 or as a mixed number 58 and 4/7. It just depends what you want to do with it.

Turn the Fraction into a Decimal
Put the fraction in lowest terms. This means that if the numerator and the denominator have a common factor, you should divide them both by the same number: for example, 3/6 = 1/2.
Divide the numerator by the denominator. So if your fraction is 1/2 you divide 1 by 2. If you don't have a calculator, the 1 goes in the box.
Turn the Decimal into a Percent
Change the decimal to a percent. Once you have your decimal, you can change it into a percent. To do this, simply move the decimal point over two spaces to the right and add a percent sign. (for example, 0.5 = 50%).
Alternate Method
Divide 100 by the denominator.
Multiply the numerator by this number. This is the percentage. For example, for 4/5: 100 ÷ 5 = 20; 20 X 4 = 80%.
Tips
Lowest terms = Simplest form
Numerator = Top number in a fraction
Denominator = Bottom number in a fraction
Common factor = A number that can be divided into two numbers evenly
Percentages are very handy for expressing a portion of a whole. The whole is represented by 100%. Example: Suppose you have 10 apples. 10 apples is 100% of the apples that you have. If you eat 2 apples, then you have 80% of your original apples and you have eaten 20% of them.
A visual representation of what percentage means can be shown with pie charts. A complete pie represents 100%. Pieces of the pie represent percentages of the whole pie that are less than 100% or the whole pie. An example of this can be seen at Make A Pie Graph.
Warnings
Make sure you move the decimal to the right, not the left.
Make sure you move the decimal point two spaces. For example, 0.375 = 37.5% not 375%. Likewise, 0.2 = 20% not 2%.
