My husband and I had unprotected sex the whole of last month and before I came on my period I had this feeling every day for a week that it had come (like a wet feeling in my pants) then it came and finished on saturday but now I still have the same feeling like water is coming out of me and I have alot of discharge. It is not itchy nor smelly just white and like lotion. Any ideas? Thanks.

Oh honey, I have that too!

I seem to be having it a lot more since going on the Pill. Of course, you should discuss it with your doctor (or Planned Parenthood clinic if you don't have insurance like me!). Vaginal discharge varies throughout your cycle. Different types of discharge mean different things - like when you're at the peak of your cycle.

It's probably nothing to be too concerned about (although you should still look into it). The vagina naturally contains a variety of yeast in a state of balance. Various factors, such as diet, menstrual cycles, antibiotics, even sex, can offset that balance, thus affecting the quality and quantity of the discharge down there. A common outcome of this disbalance is a yeast infection.

You probably don't have a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. The disbalance may have even been caused by the sex.

One thing I can definitely tell you is that you should get into eating yogurt (preferably plain) on a daily basis. Yogurt contains some of the same active cultures that reside inside you. Eating it helps to restore that balance. If you're one of those who hate yogurt, consider Kefir - it's like liquid yogurt and much easier to consume. Your local supermarket should have it.

If you do want to know more about what the heck goes on down there, may I suggest Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It covers A LOT of topics, including different types of discharge, and how to deal with them.

Good luck!

This discharge is normal to have. The fact that it's white and like lotion could mean that your period is coming. I would recommend double checking with your dr to be on the safe side.

I would recommend to go to an OB/GYN and for a general check-up and to have your questions answered by a professional. I know that some of these answers are very good, but to ease your mind you should go see your Dr.

I experienced that, too but before my period. I was told it's normal & that our hormones are just producing a little more than usual.
