Ok first of all you tan easier in Water due to the fact that the sun reflects off of the water and makes to burn faster. Second for the person that said that open your eyes under water and if there is to much chlorine in the pool your eyes will sting. That is false.... PH being to low is the cause of your eyes stinging not Chlorine. If you want to check the level of Chlorine go to walmart but test strips and dip the water yourself. You can ask the lifeguard on duty they should test levels a couple times a day.

The lifeguard will have records on hand of the chlorine readings, it's the law. those documents are bound by law to be correct so you should feel comfortable trusting their readings.

If it really bothers you, get a pack of chlorine test strips at WalMart or any place that sells pool supplies. You stick the strip in the pool for a few seconds and it changes colors based on the chlorine levels and you can compare it to the reading colors on the bottle to ensure the balance is met. It's easy and cheap.

Good luck and don't worry, you'll be fine! The pH is more of a factor in skin care than chlorine content so make sure you check that too!

I've never heard of tanning easily because of chlorine.

You tan because the light is reflected off the water giving you extra exposure. Swim at an indoor pool or wear waterproof sunscreen.

Chlorine is present in all tap water so even when you shower, chlorine is what you wash your hair with. Use a swim cap and try a leave-in conditioner.
