you can get a train straight from ilford station to london liverpool street (16 minutes)

then from there you can get the tube:
- central line to holborn, then picadilly line to covent garden (tube will take about 15 minutes)
- or the central line straight to tottenham court road, which is near soho square (10 minutes)

Train from Ilford to Stratford

Central Line from Stratford to Tottenham Court Road

(Saves the lengthy walk between trains at Liverpool Street station and TCR is close to both Soho and Convent Garden)

Getting off at Holborn and exchanging trains to Central line generally is a nightmare, in case you have baggage. there's a a lot more handy method. Get off Picadilly line at Acton Town. simply stroll around the platform to the opposite part and get into Hammersmith and City (Green) line. then get down at Mile End and stroll around the platform to the opposite part and get in to Central line (Red). No hiking stairs, no lengthy walks - only a 15 meter stroll around the structures. Get down at Gants Hill station. Exit to Woodford Avenue North and take bus No. 123 to Ilford Town Centre
