a lot of the answers offered assurance that Karma would come to the person I was mentioning and they would end up with what they deserved. Now I do understand the gist of this but am wondering what exactly would be meant by this and how can I believe this to be true.? Thanks

The way I see it -- simplistically -- is if you focus on the positive, live a good life, care for others, and expect positive things to happen you will generally have a happier life.

If someone is negative, treats others badly, takes advantage, hurts others, and generally has a negative way of life and makes a negative impact on the world, they will generally have a more miserable existence.

The world does not always work in a way that you expect to address/or redress the 'evils that men do' - but on balance if you put ill treatment behind you, if you wish noone any ill, and you continue living a good, positive, caring life you will have more fulfillment and happiness.

You must not end up making your life, or your self ,less happy by focusing on whether or not 'someone else' is or is not getting their 'just desserts'! You can never know the psychological chaos and physical damage someone else is doing to themselves as a result of their negative and unpleasant actions. Just enjoy YOUR life and let life take care of others in whatever way it will.

An Old cliche' comes to mind

"We reap what we sow"

There are consequences for the things we do.
Immediate gratification is not always the best choice although it appears that way for the impatient or greedy.

You were hurt and getting past this has given you a gift that will serve you down the road.

The person who was unkind has the greatest loss and consequence in his/her future ,

If you were to build a home, and along the way cut corners and didn't use the proper materiel, the house at first may even appear beautiful. what happens over time or when the storms come? It doesn't hold up and collapses. We only will have the house that we built.
You've walked away with your dignity and at least you've gotten yor distance, let the rest go. the best revenge you could offer would be to not allow what was done affect your life or spirit any more then it has and you are better off having eliminated the poison.good will come to you 10 fold . Hate will only make you sick.To react by doing the same would only make you the same as what you loathe.

you may not even see the karma happen , but you don't have to either, it will happen.

It's the basic philosophy of what goes around comes around in life. You can't sit by and watch and wait for them to "get what's coming". It may be years down the road that this catches up with them and they have to pay for what they've done to others and how they;ve treated other people. But it will come back to them....it always does.

If they treat you badly karma means they'll be paid back by something bad happening to them.
