brass is an alloy made from copper and Zinc. copper is mostly resistant to normal acids but Zinc is very sensitive to them. a sour substance contains an acid, so in a brass vessel it will dissolve the zinc and leaves copper behind.copper alone is much weaker than brass so it'll weaken the vessel. it's called selective leaching. copper also reacts with acids under harder conditions and specifically if the acid is an oxidizer like nitric acid and will dissolve into them.

Yes brass contains copper. The reason is that the acids in curd and sour substances can react with copper and leach it off.

Curd is composed of milk which incorporates lactic acid. Like different acid, this acid reacts with copper and brass vessels that are metals. (Brass is composed of copper and zinc). Copper ions are produced. Copper ions are risky because of the fact while they react with water interior the physique, they produce copper oxide it is insoluble in water and organic and organic solvents.

Yes, brass contains copper.

The acid in the mentioned substances will combine with the metals, tarnishing the container, discoloring and spoiling the food, and forming mildly toxic substances.
