A C.....
First of all, of all the people who resonded to this question, ask yourself "are these people picking their own Team?".....I'm not!!!
In my opinion, the Team to Beat is The New England Patriots because:
1) They've spent alot of $$$ in Free Agency
2) They draft well
3) They cut/trade players before they are on "The Downside" of their Career....
4) They have a Hall of Famer QB and Coach
5)They have a Great Organization from Top to Bottom (except their Fans...They Suck and only come out of the Woodwork when they Win, but when they Lose, you'll never Hear from them...Remember when they got beat by Indy Last year and you didn't hear a PEEP from them on this Website?)
.............Not to be Critical

On the AFC side, I'd say the teams with the best chances are the Patriots, Colts, Jaguars, and Chargers. On the NFC side, I'd say the teams with the best chances are the Cowboys, Packers, and Seattle. I think a lot of people are overlooking the Packers this year because Favre left and they now have Aaron Rodgers. The Packers last year had the youngest team in the NFL and they did well. That tells me they should be a good team for a while. And Aaron Rodgers is a pretty good quarterback. He had a 106 QB rating. That's pretty good. Not only that, but he almost pulled out a turn around win where the team pulled out Brett, thinking the game was lost and Rodgers comes back and almost wins it. The Colts will have Marvin Harrison and Freeney and Sanders all back, plus they will have probably the best running back group and best receiver group I have ever seen them have. And if Roby does anything like what he did in the preseason, the punt returns this year could finally have some significant yardage for the Colts. When the Colts start out with good field positition, they almost always score. The unknown will be the O-line. The Colts have 2-3 regulars out on the O-line including Saturday. I wonder if the new guys can step up and fill the holes. The Jags are much improved and will be formidable with Garrard at the helm. The Patriots return almost the exact same team as last year. I think last year's performance proves they have to be a top contender this year.

Indianapolis Colts
They are the strongest team in the strongest division of last year (AFC South which went 34-30 and played the 34-30 NFC East and 35-29 AFC East).
Compare them to the Chargers. They went 14-2 but played the weakest division in the AFC (North which went 33-31) and the NFC (West which went 29-35). Additionally they played a 3rd tier schedule rather than 1st tier so they got to play the Titans and Bills rather than the Colts and Patriots.
The Ravens went 13-3 but played a tougher schedule than the Chargers because they played the 34-30 AFC West, but their NFC opponent was the equally bad NFC South and they also played a third tier schedule.
The Patriots were the strongest team of the 35-29 AFC East, and played the 34-30 AFC South and 30-34 NFC North as well as a 1st tier schedule. They have had an excellent free agency.
The NFC is still developing and almost every division is weaker than every AFC division.
So, the strongest teams are the Colts and Patriots who will meet for the real championship again in Indianapolis just like this year.

I think the Colts have a great chance to repeat. Manning has a title under his belt and will now have the confidence to know they can repeat. I believe the Chargers should also be in contention with the Colts. In the NFC, I believe Dallas will make some noise, but they have a very tough schedule. Chicago's defense is still awesome, and if McNabb is healthy Philly can again make a move or two up the ladder.
Overall, I would have to say the Colts will repeat because of their confident level, and because their overall team performance will remain the same despite the players they lost.

Indy has to be the favorite going into the season but the AFC will be tough again. I say all of following have a legitimate shot - Indy, New England, Denver, San Diego with Cincinnati, Jacksonville and NY Jets having an outside shot.
Forgot to add in Baltimore also.

Since I can't pick my favorite team, the Patriots, I guess I have to say either the Ravens or Jets.
Dear Biotech,
Unlike Colt fans in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005.
When their team loses all fans either whine or disapper so they don't whine. (Except Colts fans who change, excuse me "re-emphasize", the rules.)
