I didn't write 'strip club', I wrote 'strip mall'. A strip mall is a collection of stores along a busy street. If I have to give a Cliff Notes summary of this joke there is no humor left.

Your problem was that you were in a strip MALL (a conjoined collection of shops all with outdoor facings - like a motel 6 version of a shopping mall) and not a strip CLUB. Although if you found a mall with all strippers let me know as it's never too soon to start Christmas shopping and nothing says baby Jesus like topless women.
Just for the record 20 is the average rate of a private dance but some clubs charge ALOT more. It depends mostly on the quality of girls, the location of the club, and how the money is dispersed (sometimes the girls have to pay rent on space for private or lap dances as they are independent contractors and the space they use is not usable by the club in general). If you're ever in doubt ask the girls before you offer money, if they want the money they'll tell you. Or better, ask a bouncer that way you get a flat answer as to policy and there will be no confusing getting-your-face-kicked-in type misunderstandings later.

Well for one thing you went to the wrong place. A strip mall is not an strip club. I don't think you are going to find a lap dance at a strip mall. Your lucky you didn't get arrested. Try not to be so stupid in the future.

you gotta be more specific, do you mean a $20 tip or $20 for the whole dance? because one would be really generous while the other is pretty cheap.

Well your problem is that you are in the wrong country. I am sure you could see a Lapp dance in northern Norway.
