be careful, I am from the usa and i now live in europe. none of my appliances work properly (the ones I brought with me) even with the proper adapter. its actually a transformer that you need and they are quite large and costly. its not worth the hassle to bring american electrical products to europe. the ones i did bring (hair dryer, shaver, battery charger) have all developed problems so ive given up bringing stuff back here

It depends. Most countries are on 220-240 V. Basically you should use the 1600. Note that you need different types of converters/transformers for "electric" items and "electronic" items.
