In my HS transcript, written is Copy sent directly to (name of university)..

The transcripts are exactly the same. The reason that the university will only accept a transcript directly from the school as official, is because that is the only way they can be reasonable sure that the transcript has not been tampered with.

The transcripts must reflect the exact same information unless there have been any changes to your records since your receipt of it. The reason that universities only accept a transcript directly from the high school is to insure its authenticity. It will arrive in a sealed envelope, clearly labeled as a true and official transcript, and have the school's seal across the sealed closure on the back of the envelope. This would allow for obvious tampering to be evident. While at graduation, from both high school and college, you may be presented with an official copy, it is still best to have one sent directly so that you may always have one for your records.

Additionally, a transcript sent to a student may be stamped with "unofficial -- issued to student" stamp, even if you request a sealed official depending on the policies at your school.

Your best bet would be to order a transcript, pay the small fee, and wait the short amount of time for it to arrive.

I hope this helps!

It's not that the transcript is any different. It's that the transcript has been sent directly to the university from the high school and the student has not touched it. It is way to safeguard the transcript from unscrupulous types who would try to alter the info in the transcript before they gave it to the university. Many universities will not accept a transcript that the student has hand carried for that reason.

The transcript sent from the high school to the university has a "seal of noteriety" on it certifying it is officially from the school. The version they give you does not have this seal and thus isn't accepted as an official transcript by universities.

If you watch CSI or Law & Order, you've probably heard of chain of evidence. When the school sends it directly, they know there has been no tampering or changes. Otherwise, the two transcripts should be the same.

The one sent by the school is considered official.

There should be no differences, however, a college will only accept one directly mailed to them as official.
