The benefit is yours and you can use it for whatever you want. As for your issue with your Mother, does she take it as rent ? Does she, should she take it all ? That is an issue you have to work out with your Mother. If you moved out could you live on your own ? Would you want to do that - and would you want to leave your Mother in a bind ? Good Luck, this is an introduction to life - a lot of decisions are not easy to make, life is not fair. Look at the good things you have. There are people who are homeless right now and don't have food.

People living on Social Security rarely living well, the SS money is designed to cover their bare basics essential expenditures so they have a roof over their and your head, so they do not starve to death, so they are not on the streets begging each day, and so they do not need to steal to buy food for children.
BTW this does not stop some on SS from living reasonably if they budget, and it does not stop others from stealing... such is life regardless of wealth.
Money going to the credit card, you may ask what was purchased using credit card they are paying.
Know several people on SS who have credit cards they use them for short term loans to get them through unexpected large expenditures; Also using credit cards to pay accounts can save them money in transaction fees, the little they save aud$1.50 adds up very quickly to 30 a month... which for them is a lot of money.
Several years ago some politicians tried to live on Social Security, from memory they gave up before the week was out having found it to hard.

Congratulations! You have just given the Dems an excuse for setting up a whole new bureaucracy, the "Social Security Spending
Security office."Their function would be to see that SS benefits are properly spent.
The govt estimates they would only need 3-4 billion a year to run it, and Hillary has a cousin she would like to put in charge of it.

It is supposed to go for your needs until you turn 18, and then it will be gone! This can include housing costs, utility payments, food, and clothing, etc.! It depends upon what is on your mother's credit card, but it is often abused! Likely she is also receiving death benefits as a widow! You would know best if she is greedy!

yes, you probably have an issue..but what is the government going to do? I think your money should have been put for your benefit..did not your mother support you? well, maybe you should ask her what she did with all your dad's benefits..I know my ex wife lived off our children's Child Support payments...and did not get a job until they got to be 18...duh..then she had no more food stamps or child support to support her nasty habits..and she was married five or six times...
Maybe you could protest to the SS people and they could do something./? but she still is your mom...so go easy on her...I would not like it either....but life is not always fair...
