E85 - Ethanol?
Biodiesel?
Vegetable Oil?
Plug-in Hybrid?
Hydrogen?
Electric only?

Anything I've left out?

E85 and other biofuels are carbon neutral, aren't they? I mean they pull CO2 out of the air to grow the plant, and it goes back when burned. At least that's what I thought.

The battery story is not all that bad. NiMH and Lithium Ion batteries have valuable materials in them. They won't just be disposed of, but will be recycled. At least that's what I'm reading and hearing.

E85 - Ethanol, Bio-diesel, and Vegetable Oil Are all carbon producing fuels.

The Hydrogen Highway has not pulled the proper permits because the by product of producing hydrogen from natural gas, which is where most industrial hydrogen comes from, is Carbon dioxide, a green house gas ! ! !

A Plug-in Hybrid is the closest to a solution until the hybrid vehicles finally develop batteries that can store enough energy to get a reasonable range.

Plug-in Electric is the ultimate clean fuel for transportation. The average commute in the USA is 25 miles. Well within the range of any decent electric car. If you combine that with solar voltaic panels on the roof of your house the cost of driving your car for most of your needs would be free.

Yeah, right, everybody thinks electric is the way to go.
And what happens when we suddenly have an over abundance of the used (TOXIC) batteries from electric cars.
Then we're right back where we started, contaminating the environment with toxic chemicals.
The answer is NOT electric!!!!
Maybe SOME of the battery can be recycled, but there will always be something toxic left over after recycling.
Best bet is to go back to the horse and buggy, or walking.
A bicycle would also be acceptable, but what about the used rubber tires???
